Video: The 2008 Win a Horse Finalists

At the start of 2008, Your Horse magazine launched its competition for one lucky winner to win not only a horse of their own, but gear, insurance, feed and a trailer, too. The judging process for this incredible competition is rigorous, with entrants having to complete a comprehensive questionnaire relating to their knowledge, experience and dedication!

Out of hundreds of entries, a shortlist of 10 finalists was selected to take part in a special selection day at Talland School of Equitation in Gloucestershire. A nerve-wracking time for everyone involved, our video reveals what went on behind the scenes of the selection day.

The eventual Win a Horse winner will need to be a good rider and capable of looking after their new horse. The judging process included riding sessions, discussion groups and a variety of practical tasks to enable the judging panel of Your Horse editor Justine Thompson, deputy editor Julie Brown, plus sponsors Liz Bulbrooke from Baileys Horse Feeds, Tracey Lloyd from NAF, Angela Garton from Mountain Horse, Jacqui Baines from Ifor Williams Trailers and Nicky West and Jayne Clarke from Equestrian Direct Insurance to choose the competition’s final four contenders.
