Agency France Presse (AFP) has launched a new app to help you stay informed during the Olympic Games.
The app will be available in the iTunes App Store for free download (compatible foe iPads and iPhones) in English and French and features four sections with real-time access to the latest Olympic results, events schedule and a selection of stories with photos, videos and graphics.
The ‘Info Center’ main screen provides a handy overview of the most important competition information: news, results, table of medals, schedule of events, line-up of TV/radio broadcasts and a weather forecast.
The ‘News’ section opens directly a whole range of articles and videos sorted by category. A preliminary image banner shows the ‘Top Stories’, the 10 biggest events of the last few hours, while a second banner showcases the latest competition information in chronological order.
The ‘Sport’ tab provides access to the timetable and results from each event to follow competition details as well as real-time changes in the medals table.
The ‘Athletes’ entry displays a comprehensive database of sports people's profiles: nationality, sex, weight, height, and the number of medals won by each athlete.
One innovative function even makes it possible for the user to add a reminder to be alerted a few minutes before an event begins.
