Get Spring cleaning and help some horses in need asks the team at World Horse Welfare (WHW).
WHW is asking you to have an early spring clean and find any unwanted items that could help to raise funds to help more neglected and abused horses.
The charity’s Penny Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Blackpool, Lancashire is holding a ‘Rags for Nags’ event giving you the opportunity to have a sort out of unwanted items for a good cause.
The farm is after things like clothes, household textiles (not pillows or duvets), paired shoes, handbags, belts, books, CDs and old computer games. Members of the public can bring in the items during half term week between Saturday 11 February and Sunday 19 February.
Items need to be packed into bin liners and will then be sold to a textile recycling company to raise funds for the charity.
Penny Farm Visitor Centre Officer Zoe Clifford said:
“Last year we raised £765 which is a fantastic amount, but this time we would really like to beat that amount and reach £1,000.
“We appreciate it is a difficult time for people at the moment and Rags for Nags is a great way for members of the public to really help horses in need without costing them a penny. It also helps the environment as the items are being recycled.”
If you would like to donate any old items you can bring them to Penny Farm and drop them off in the Visitor Centre between the times of 11am and 4pm on either of the Saturdays, Sundays, or on the Wednesday during the half term week.
