Students can undertake a range of qualifications at a new equestrian college in Somerset.

The Divoky Riding School, in Downhead, near Frome, has been approved by Equestrian Qualifications GB Limited (EQL), a subsidiary of The British Horse Society, for training and assessing candidates for a range of work-based diplomas in horse care and riding.

Based in a 17th century manor house courtyard, the college offers full and part-time training to prepare students for jobs in the equine industry or for further college or university study.

Students can enrol from 14 years old, with school-age pupils working on day release from school towards a level one diploma, which is equivalent to four GCSEs and is also classed as an enrichment activity by education watchdog Ofsted.

The college has a rolling intake and offers a flexible programme to fit with school timetables. Interviews are held throughout the year and successful candidates can reserve a place as soon as their school has agreed funding.

For more information on courses at Divoky Riding School, call centre manager Pat Burrough on 01749 880233.
