The Your Horse team can regularly be found gushing over the cute horses and ponies at the Blue Cross, but the reasons they end up there are often enough to bring us to tears.

So, to do our bit we’re telling you about the inmates at the Blue Cross and asking you to ‘Dig Deep’ and donate.

This month it’s Tia Maria. This pretty 15.1hh, 14-year-old dark bay Thoroughbred type mare is currently being cared for at The Blue Cross equine centre in Burford, Oxfordshire.

Tia, as she’s known at the centre, has had a pretty unpleasant past, having been very badly treated in a former home. Despite her kind nature Tia sustained a nasty wound on her back when battery acid was put on her back in the attempt to remove a freeze mark.

She also has a history of difficult ridden behaviour so is best suited to being a non-ridden companion horse.

These horrible experiences mean that Tia doesn't like being left on her own so she’d like a new home with constant companionship.

She’s good to handle, great with the vet and farrier and will happily live out with both mares and geldings.

If you think you can offer this deserving lady a loving home, please contact The Blue Cross on 01993 822 454 or visit  http://tinyurl.com/y2jhgk4
