Keep your horsebox, tack room, utility or porch clean, thanks to a clever product from specialist online retailer The Turtle Mat Company.

Used and recommended by top show rider and producer Lynn Russell, Turtle Mats help to protect living areas from mucky feet and paws.

And now there’s no excuse not to invest in one of these clever dirt trappers, now an equine-themed mat featuring a leaping bay has been launched.

Designed in artist Terry Kirkwood’s distinctive style, ‘Agility’, not only helps to keep dust and dirt at bay but makes a practical gift too.

“Turtle Mats are machine washable, so once your mat has collected all the dirt and mud that otherwise would be trodden through your living area, you can put it straight in the washing machine and even tumble dry it,” explained Simon Brown, co-owner of The Turtle Mat Company, which offers a selection of hard-wearing, highly desirable designer mats with a five-year guarantee.

“Terry’s equestrian designs can also be found on china mugs and tableware so Turtle Mat was delighted to collaborate with her and bring a fresh design to our already extensive product range.”

The artist, whose work covers a range of subjects in watercolour, oil and mixed media, loves painting horses and is inspired by her grey Arab mare, Psalm.

“I love the quality and velvety texture of Turtle Mats – a true Thoroughbred among mats, on which I am more than delighted to have one of my designs,” said Terry.

Surrey-based renowned horsewoman, Lynn Russell, added: “My Turtle Mats have been really great in the horsebox living area. They have proved easy to clean as they are lightweight and I can move them in and out of the lorry quickly.

“I just power wash them off, put them over the gate to dry, then pop them back in the lorry for the next show. Then off we go to get them dirty again.

“Even my dogs like to sleep on them and when we are all tearing around inside the lorry living area they don’t slip but grip to the floor. They also help me keep the horsebox living space clean when everyone troops in with their muddy boots.”

Independent laboratory tests have shown that genuine Turtle Mats trap 95 per of dust, wet mud and dirt, helping to limit dust mites and particles that can cause allergies.

The mats’ hard wearing tufts do the hard work for you, and do not fray or wear out in normal use. They actually improve with each wash, trapping even more mud and dirt.

The equine range of mats costs £44.95 each for a 60 x 85cm mat.
