What better way to commemorate an epic Badminton win – than with a rocking horse!

It’s 30 years since Mark Todd won his first Badminton riding Southern Comfort III.

To celebrate this momentous milestone, Westgate EFI - distributor of the Mark Todd Collection - commissioned Stevenson Brothers to produce a limited edition ‘Southern Comfort’ rocking horse.

The first of these was presented to the Duke of Beaufort for Badminton House during the event, with Mark Todd present at the Westgate trade stand.

Hand-crafted in English oak from Windsor Great Park, the beautiful dark bay rocking horse is one of only 30 to be made. It was much admired by the Duke, who even sat on the horse during the presentation.

Acknowledging Mark’s significant contribution to eventing the Duke said: “When Mark Todd appeared on the equestrian scene he changed it forever.”

Southern Comfort was Mark’s first ride at Badminton, and he surprised the horse world by taking the title after faultless cross country and show jumping rounds. His win started the great British love affair with ‘Toddy’ and his popularity continues to this day.

Established in 1982, Stevenson Brothers are renowned worldwide for their rocking horses, which have top quality leather tack and genuine horse hair manes and tails.
