A new company has introduced gaiters for horses – called GollyGaloshes.
GollyGaloshes gaiters are worn over traditional boots and bandages to keep them dry, clean and also protect against thorns and debris, in all weathers.
They are produced in high visibility colours, made in a breathable, waterproof and reflective material, with a 3M strip to improve safety in low light conditions.
Company owner Jean Hammond-Rumbold said: “The concept behind the gaiters came to me about 15 years ago. I was visiting a friend in the states who was using home-made plastic covers to protect her horse’s boots from mud and rain.
“When I got back to the UK, I grew sick and tired of handling and washing wet muddy boots everyday - that’s when I first began to seriously develop the idea.”
Having trialled the product extensively over endurance events, cross-country and hunting, Jean was encouraged by her daughter to develop the product commercially.
In addition to keeping boots clean and dry, the gaiters also serve an important safety function as they are made from high-vis materials.
Golly Galoshes retail at £18.99 - £26.99 per pair and are available in a number of sizes and high visibility reflective colours. For more information e-mail gollygaloshes@btinternet.com
