Top equine massage therapist Jim Masterson is back in the UK in July to run more of his hands-on workshops.

Jim is Integrated Equine Performance Body Worker for the US national team, and his clinics last year were a sell-out.

This year’s clinics will run in Bristol and Shropshire. They are aimed at riders, trainers and therapists and numbers are limited so Jim can offer one-to-one attention.

Equine Therapist Jim recognises that horses exhibit certain responses to human touch as they relax and release tension in the body. He has spent nine years perfecting his equine massage technique, which incorporates manipulation, acupressure, neuromuscular release and cranial sacral therapy.

He also uses feel and response from the horse to get a release of stress and return of full range of movement to muscles and joints.

Jennifer Niehaus, Endurance Team member at the 2006 World Equestrian Games, said: “Out of all the things that were done to help my horse, Cheyenne, while participating at the Games, I know for a fact that the bodywork Jim did was the most beneficial.

“Cheyenne has never travelled and moved as nicely as he did while I was in Germany.”

During Jim’s clinics, participants will learn techniques to increase their horse’s performance and how to use the horse’s response to guide treatment.

Jim will run the workshops in Bristol on July 3 and 4 and in Oswestry, Shropshire on July 10 and 11.
