The Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Racing is returning to the Horse of the Year Show this year.
During this event, pairs of ponies pull a scurry vehicle round a twisting course at breathtaking speed and the fastest pair clear wins.
The aim of the competition is for the drivers to steer their ponies through a series of gates made up of between 12 to 14 pairs of cones. Each cone has a ball placed on top, so if a pony or scurry cart makes contact with the cone the ball will fall off resulting in a penalty of 4 seconds.
For every subsequent ball which is knocked down a further 4 seconds are added. The winner is the team with the quickest overall time.
All teams competing in the final at HOYS will have been put through their paces throughout the summer, in a number of qualifying shows.
The Osborne Refrigerators Scurry Challenge will take place during each performance of the show from October 7-11. Also, on Sunday 11, there will be a Celebrity Hurry Scurry where show jumpers join a scurry team and a National Hunt jockey for a relay race.
