This summer, Woodredon Riding School at Waltham Abbey in Essex will be encouraging residents in the South East to ‘take up the reins’ as part of the Petplan Equine National Riding Festival.
On Sunday July 20, Woodredon Riding School, which has recently been named as one of the London 2012 Olympic training camp venues, will be hosting the Festival’s fifth open day in 2008, providing a unique opportunity for local people of all ages and abilities to experience horse riding for the first time. Participants can choose to ride the real thing or the popular mechanical cantering horse, Trigger. Also, for those who want to keep their feet firmly on the ground, there will be a packed programme of entertaining displays, including appearances from legendary international showjumper Annette Lewis, the newly formed British Para Show Jumping Association, and a breathtaking show from the British Equestrian vaulting squad.
The event at Woodredon Riding School is one of nine Festival open days scheduled to take place at riding centres across the UK to encourage new and lapsed riders back into the saddle.
Kevin Butchart is delighted to be hosting a Festival open day following the successes of 2007: “Being invited to host one of the nine Petplan Equine National Riding Festival open days is a great honour for Woodredon Riding School and the region. We had great fun running the open day last year and expect this year to be no different. It’s a fabulous day out for friends and family with something for everyone.”
Running from May to September, the Festival is sponsored by Petplan Equine and supported by The British Equestrian Federation, Sport England, and the UK’s major equestrian associations and leading animal welfare charities.
