If you enjoy a great day out with your horse in beautiful countryside then be sure to sign up for this year’s Burghley Sponsored Ride.
Sadly last year’s event was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, but the organisers expect the 2009 event to be bigger and better than ever.
The ride consists of a hack round Burghley Park on the last day of the famous Burghley Horse Trails, including two sections of the actual cross-country course. Riders are not usually allowed onto the parkland, so, add to this the very special atmosphere of the three-day event and this is clearly an occasion not to be missed.
Riders of all levels are encouraged as children can come on a lead rein and there are no obstacles to be negotiated – though you can get a good look at some of the enormous Burghley fences as you ride past them!
This year’s event will be on Sunday 6 September. For further information and entry details email burghleysponsoredride@btconnect.com or fax 01780 767221. For an entry form write to Burghley Sponsored Ride, Belmesthorpe Grange, Newstead Lane, Stamford, Lincs PE9 4JJ plus SAE. Forms will be available after May 1.
