Top eventer Ian Stark is to design the two and three star courses for Hutton in the Forest Horse Trials.
The former international three-day eventer says he is really looking forward to the event in Cumbria in August (21-23 2009).
“This is the first three-star course that I’ve designed in Britain, and I’m very pleased to be designing at this level and so close to home. I rode at Hutton a few years ago and thought it was a fantastic venue.
“I’ve no pre-conceived ideas about how I’m going to design the course, but I’m doing a full walk of the location in the next few weeks and the lay of the land will tell me what will work.”
Ian has previously designed three star courses at Tyrella, Ireland, and Galway Downs, California. He also spends a lot of time training event riders around the world after his retirement from International competition last year.
Ian is well experienced at riding round this type of course having been a three times Badminton Horse Trials winner and regularly placed at three star competitions such as Boekelo and Bramham.
Iain Graham, British Eventing Regional Director, said: “I am sure Ian Stark will relish the opportunity to create these new international courses at Hutton in the Forest and will no doubt set the right balance of challenge and education required for the up and coming horses and riders in our sport.”
