For the second year running, RSA and Breast Cancer Care have teamed up for a fun-filled day of silliness in the RSA Pantomime Horse Derby at the Royal Windsor Racecourse on Saturday 4 July.
In this "Derby with a difference", teams of five take part in qualifying derbies, grand final and dressage competitions, all in the name of fundraising. The teams must consist of a trainer, a groom, an owner and the front and back and of the pantomime horse!
The event is hoping to raise over £10,000 to help Breast Cancer Campaign fund innovative, world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, which will hopefully lead to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK and accounts for nearly one in three of all cancers in women. Also, in the UK, over 46,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed each year. Averaged out, that’s 125 cases a day.
Clare Sheikh, RSA Group Director of Strategy, Marketing and trustee of Breast Cancer Campaign, said: "The RSA Pantomime Horse Derby raised a fantastic £18,000 for breast cancer research last year. It’s a team building event with a difference, a celebration of British eccentricity, where the emphasis is firmly on having fun and raising money for a great cause.”
Samantha Gold, Events Manager at Breast Cancer Campaign, added: “This is such a unique event and a fantastic way for people to network, bond with colleagues and have some fun while raising vital funds for Campaign. We are always looking for new ways to increase our fundraising and this event just shows that a little bit of imagination goes a long way!”
Registration is £575 per team and spectator tickets are also available. To find out more about The RSA Pantomime Horse Derby please email Emma Hill at emma.hill@gcc.rsagroup.com
