Mary King

We’re thrilled to announce that top eventer Mary King will be joining us at Your Horse Live 2012!

Mary is one of the greatest competitors that British sport has ever seen, with an eventing career that has spanned more than 30 years. She’s renowned for her gutsy performances across country, and has represented Great Britain at five Olympic Games so far. She’s on course to make eventing history with a record sixth Olympic appearance at London 2012 this summer. She’s won gold and silver at the World Equestrian Games and has brought home gold, silver and bronze from the European Eventing Championships.

Famously from a non-horsey background, Mary learnt to ride on borrowed ponies, and in the early days financed her horses through a variety of unglamorous jobs, including gardening, cooking and cleaning out toilets in the local campsite.

Her eventing career hasn’t been without its challenges. She returned to top-level competition after having two children, one of whom, Emily, is now a successful eventer in her own right. And in 2001 a serious fall resulted in a broken her neck, which could have ended her career.  

Your Horse Live is a rare chance to see this great British sporting heroine in action and hear her share her training methods and philosophy.
