The Equine Dentist - Part 5: 5 top tips for excellent equine dentition!

 Here in the USA, most of our states have passed the law that only licenced veterinarians may perform dentistry on horses.  This is terrible because many vets take a short dentistry course, buy the electric drills and go to work on our poor horses without having the experience necessary to do it correctly and safely.  I've seen vets injure gums to the point of causing masses of blood clots to shed.  That poor horse couldn't eat for a week after that.  Another horse got one of his molars cracked from the intense heat of the power drill.  The new technology is good...but only in skilled hands that do it every day like a certifed equine dentist!
