How to introduce a double bridle

In this article, Claire Lilley shows Deborah Powell how to introduce the double bridle to her horse Dotty.

Claire begins by running through the double bridle and its features with Deborah.

"When I did my Pony Club B test I remember being told to put a double bridle on my horse for the first time," says Claire.

My instructor told me to imagine that instead of a bit in the mouth, there was a razor blade, and I've never forgotten that. It's a good way of illustrating how careful you have to be when riding in a double bridle. They need to be treated with respect and ridden with the lightest hands."
