Follow this plan to improve your flexibility and muscle strength in the saddle. Try to do each exercise at least once a day – twice if there’s something good on TV!

- Facing the living room wall (this is a good exercise for when the adverts are on), step back with your right leg, keeping the heel of your back foot on the ground, and keeping your left leg bent at the knee

- Lean in to the wall and feel the stretch down the back of your lower right leg

- To increase the stretch, position your back foot further away from the wall

- Hold for 15-20 seconds, then change legs
