Absorbent Bedding

 Hi,
At my old riding school they used these pellets for bedding which expanded and turned into a powder when they got wet, so they expanded. Can anyone name a good brand for this bedding and its price? Would it be suitable for a messy and wet horse? Also, would it be cheaper to use shavings or this absorbent bedding?
Thank you

Horse Care

wood pellet bedding and barefoot horse

Hi - has anyone used wood pellet bedding (e.g. Verdo) with an ushod horse?

He has been unshod for about a year following an operation (farrier is trimming and will put shoes back on if needed) and while he was in a different field, further away down a track, he was picking up a lot of grit between his hoof walls.  I just wondered if the wood pellets also tend to get caught up in the hoof?

Some friends have it and it seems brilliant but all their horses are shod.
