How can I stop my 5 year old irsh cob mare chasing after other horses in the distance ahead of her? When I try to stop her cantering off she rears!

Maybe get a stronger bit? It's not always the best option though. Do you hack out alone? Start riding with others so she gets used to other horses being around her. If the other horses are troting/cantering/galloping infront of you it might be better to ask nicely if they could walk while you go past.
