Thanks for all the advice-on checking the horses height myself he is 15.2hh and a part bred cob-5years old and since I've bought him I've gone on a health kick myself and dropped a stone in weight and still losing- and now I've got him and moved him to fantastic grazing and acres or space he is filling out lovely and he had poor grazing prior thats why the previous owners sold him- lack of space and grazing- so he is doing well.

However I have just posted for help- when i move him he had a bit of bullying with a mare and gelding- which has settled now ythe pecking order has been acomplished and they have all accepted each other- after turning him out- i thought it would be days before i could catch him-but he came straight away and was an angel- I groomed him, cuddled him and started light schooling as he was very green- and he was happy- tacked up fine- i hadn't backed him as wanted him  to adjust to all the new things without stressing him- I had car crash 4weeks ago which has meant being unable to do much with him other than feed him, talk to him smooth him and generally make fuss let him know still love him etc... but he has suddenly become aggressive- he comes for food- but after that if i try go near him he puts his ears flat and turns his rear to kick me- he even chased me- and this actually started the day of my accident- before i actually had the crash- so i stood like an idiot in the field for over an hour in the rain just keeping an eye on him- but he's getting worse- i don't know why- because he stands his ground with other horses and has even become quite cocky with them and tries pushing them off their buckets now- but he really seems to hate me- I have arrnaged for someone to come and assess him for schooling as like I said he was very green when bought him and he needs work, but I am starting to feel nervous of him, but dont show him that and I shout NO firmly at him when he tries to kick or puts his ears flat- its like he's a different horse- 2weeks after owning him I could kiss his nose and hug him- now I cant get near him-why, Any ideas?

I am 6ft 2in and 15 1/2 stone and I used to ride a Gypsy Cob 15.2h who sadly died aged 30 this year. My new horse is a 17.2h Chesnut Mare Rescued ex-racehorse aged 20 who is very bossy and strong but lovely and nearly lost her this week to Colic vet called out 9pm at night. A lovely Cob Type, an Irish Draft horse, Dutch Warmblood, Dales. My Son who is also 6ft 2in rides an event horse an ex-racehorse 17h. The only problem is remembering to duck under trees on the large horses, I have changed from a 15.2h to 17.2h oops that oak tree was not there before.

 if its a lightweight like a thoroughbred then no it wouldnt suit you. also at four it still needs to develop and grow a bit more, i hope you dont think im being rude im just giving advice and im sorry if i offend you. a cross breed or draft type would be great. maybe a 6 year old? hope this helps
