Well, I would just say make sure that shorten your stirrups a little beforehand, and lean forwards, keeping a light contact so it is easy to ask your horse to come back down to a canter when you ask, instead of leaning on their mouth. Also, make sure that you choose a good place to ask for gallop, where you know that there are no rabbit holes ect.
