Hi! I did a few novice classes this year with my welsh and found them really good and confidence giving as the judge is aware your horse is only young or new to showing and I always came out with helpful advise. Any snaffle is fine. Usually they will just ask for a walk, trot and canter all together and then will pull you in to do an individual show. They usually want to see a walk, trot and canter on both reins and sometimes will ask for an extension. Most important thing to remember it's a novice class so don't get stressed if anything goes wrong! and one thing i noticed is the judge would prefer to see you correct a 'wrong leg' rather than carry on or panic and go into a mad chicken run. I'd work on manners and balance as this shows the judge that the horse has potential even if it isn't the most well schooled in the class.

For your outfit it depends on your breed of horse, Mountain and Moorlands/cobs etc need to be in plain tack and left unplaited and you would need to wear a tweed jacket. Otherwise it's a navy/black jacket and pulled, plaited and trimmed etc,
