My new horse was also aggressive at first, shes a TB ex-racehorse so i put it down to the fact that she hadn't been in a stable since her racing days - shes now chilled out but does bite if i touch her from the neck down and change her rugs. I wasn't told about this when i bought her but she has improved - i've had her three months.

The key is to work slowly and ignore bad behaviour completely - then reward the good behaviour. Quite differcult trust me, but eventually they get the message.

He's bound to be affected by moving house and having a new owner - give him time to adjust. He needs to see you as someone he can trust and respect. Feed him at regualar times and maintain a routine - try to be the only one handling him. If he only does it when you handle his head - spend plenty of time grooming his body - rewarding him - then slowly move up to his head until hes happy with you touching him there.

hi ya i have the same problem ive had my boy since the end of oct and he is doing the same i must say he is getting better the stable ower where i am said he must of been fed at the door with treats i dont do that now and he is getting alot better when i first had him you couldnt even walk past the stable he would just come at you but he dont do that anymore at all hope it gets better for you

Puff nips in the stable (only very occashionly), its the only place he does it. Its a territory thing with him, especially once he has his haynet up. I know when hes likely to do it, its almost a habit he's gotten into with a previous owner. Either when you put his rug on, or bend down to pick out his near fore (doesnt even think about it with the other leg!). I dont know why he does it, hes only got me 3 times in the 3 years Ive had him, but each time he has made contact he absolutely craps himself, he flys across the stable, pushes himself against the wall with his head up in the air, shaking. Odviously some has given him a proper hidding at some point for doing it. Because of his reaction, I wont hit him, I just move up to him at his shoulder, show that him doing that doesnt deter me, pull him towards me and carry on with what I was doing. He then goes all soppy, almost like 'sorry mum didnt mean it'. Git!
