My horse chooses how and when we join up but, hey :P Other than my freak of nature i'm pretty sure it 100% works :D x

It is absolutley great for horses that are norvous or just if you want a prper loving companion. I always do join-up with my mum's 17.1 and he's only 7.

It does work. I would recommend the lady who was on Dragons den with her fabulous Kemp Controller who is a healer and horse whisperer too using her Head of Herd system.  Highly recommended, she saved me some un necessary hassel and pain.
