I have been told that I need to carry my horse’s passport on every journey. I am not sure this is correct. I need to transport my horse to a new livery yard (I have not sold him) so does his passport need to be in the vehicle?

It is not a legal requirement to carry your horse’s passport on every journey, although some consider it a sensible precaution.
There are a number of exceptions but if you are moving your horse to the premises of a new keeper (or to the premises of a new owner), you need the passport with you.
