I think I’ve bought a stolen saddle. At a local show I got talking to a man who said he had a saddle for sale. After my class was over, I looked at the saddle and bought it. A few weeks later, I heard people talking about some tack that had been stolen. One of the stolen saddles was the same size, make and colour as mine. What should I do?

H.E Tutor Ellie Hoyes advises:
The police will hold details of the tack theft and should be able to identify the saddle. It does sound as though your saddle could well be stolen, but the police records will be able to give you a definitive answer.
It’s best to find out for sure so you don’t become implicated if the saddle is recognised.
