I’m buying my first horse and I’m worried about getting it wrong – what are my rights legally?
Answer
By Your Horse
When buying your horse it’s worth remembering that private sales aren’t covered by the Sales of Goods Act. This act states that traders (not private sales) must sell goods that are as described and of satisfactory quality. If consumers discover that the products do not meet these requirements, they can reject them and ask for their money back etc. When buying a horse privately, you are not covered by this so remember the old adage, let the buyer beware!
