A friend of mine part-loans a horse at my yard so we could ride together. She is charged £15 a week by one of the owners who is lovely. She goes up 3-4 times a week and rides 2-3 times. She is the only one that part-loans her and is allowed to do whatever she wants, regarding 'shows, pc, ect.' You need to make your own boundaries, and what you want the contribution to be. If I loaned my horse out, I would charge £15-20 a week, and maybe some contribution to shoeing if I wasn't riding her(£10?) I would let it be their decision whether they want to purchase anything for them, but would be delighted if they did. The most important thing is the type of person you get for him/her. Make sure they know exactly what they're doing and maybe invite them up for a trial day or 2 with you watching over her. Ask her to ride him/her, and if she rides well, and the pony feels comfortable with her around, then you've found the perfect match. Don't just go with your friend because she's your friend, I'm sure you know it's a lot harder than that! Let me know how you get on via email, I'd love to hear from you. And good luck!
