There are a number of equine insurance companies who do cover older horses, although you are right most companies won't insure them past about 15 years.

Petplan Equine are one company that people have mentioned and they definitely insure older horses, I'm pretty sure Animal Friends do as well. You can see a list of some insurers on this website.

With older horse insurance, I've found that you really have to read the fine print. Cover for illness, for example, isn't always included as many will simply cover for injury although it would appear that everything is covered the way things are presented (I've learnt that the hard way).

I've only been with Petplan and haven't had any problems. I would image Animal Friends are good since they are such an ethical company but that's just a guess. Haven't heard amazing things about E&L but they are cheap.

I dont have older horse insurance but I use Petplan for Coco and I cant recommend them enough, they have been so good with us!

Try Petplan, they have special deals for older horses and mine comes under that bracket and I was really pleased with their price. YOu could also try E&L and if you don't like their price then haggle, they may reduce it.
