Hi there,
Are you an overly nervous person? My new horse was very nervous of me to start with, and due to that, I was getting nervous too, even without realising it! :) Just walk up to her slowly, breathe deeply, right down into your stomach and relax. stop a little way from her and turn slightly sideways, so your back is more angled to her, and look to the floor, remebering to relax. It may help having some treats in your pocket too! If she doesnt come over to investigate, the slowly reach your hand out with a treat in her direction without looking right in her eyes. Keep doing this until she associcates you with good tickles and tasty things :D and shes is comfortable with you touching her all over. If she looks even slightly uneasy about you touching her, then leave it for the next day as with horses trust, one bad move due to rushing could set you back a few days. Also, when moving around her, even though you have to be a bit slower and careful, dont be too careful and do everything deliberately slowly and tensely, as they will pick up on it! Just be confident but careful. Shes probably better with your children as they are less likely to show nervousness and be more confident around her. I heard form something once, that fear comes wtith age - you see a tiny 4 year old walking along with a normally crazy thoroughbred and its like a big puppy on a rope! hope this helps!
