i should have a new horse coming on saturday, and i am going to leave her for about a week or so bringing her in and out of the barn, grooming, patting and feeding her so she learns to trust me! and to give her enough time to settle into her new place !!!

I left Coco for a week to give him chance to settle into his new life, new surroundings, new routine, new buddies and new me!!! To be honest I had to get him a new saddle which took a week for the saddle fitter to come out but I still think I would leave it a week if I got another one! I spent the week grooming him, taking him for walks, sitting in the field and watching him and shopping (he needed pretty much everything from scratch!!!) He was transported an hour from the dealer and was used to being kept in 24/7 which changed on day 2, he got turned out during the day and in at night. It took about 5 -6 days for him to sort out his place in the pecking order of the field, whilst there was no issues between them, he grazed onhis own and the other 2 kept well away from him - he is now the boss! He seemed to settle very quickly and seemed happy but I thought it was only fair to give him a bit of time to get used to everything as he was only very young so hadn't got much life experience!!!
