Benzyl Benzoate, that's a blast from the past BertieB - we used to use this on the hunters mud fevery legs and I found it A/ incredible how quickly the skin healed anb B/ how quickly the hair grew back! Yes I would recommend this too.

you say that it is flaky, do the flakes look like sugar?

if so its probs sweet itch, my horse gets it and i was really worried, until i found out that many horses get it, 

so i popped into my local tack shop and they pointed me to the right direction and gave me Killitch Sweet Itch Lotion, its fantastic and it cleared up in a couple of weeks, I now water it down and use it as a prevention every day,

I have the same problem with my coloured cob but the best thing to use is Camrosa it is TOTALY worth the money It softens the skin gets rid of anny the flakes and makes it smooth and stops the itching
