I've had my pony for 6months. He arrived with enormous scabs on each heel. He has dark fore feet and white hinds. He suffered from bad mud fever last year. So far I have ignored the scabs as they're hidden by his feathers. Should I be trying to remove them? They're the size of golfballs and very solid. Any advice?? I don't fancy trying to remove them, they cause him no discomfort. But will they make mud fever more likely this winter?
