After an eight-year gap and two children, I’m riding again and would love to buy my own horse. I’ve had two horses on a weekend loan and worked at yards in the past, but will my past knowledge be good enough?

Buying a horse is a very big commitment.
Look into doing an evening or weekend course such as the Horse Owner’s Certificate – for more information go to the BHS website, www.bhs.org.uk, and click on the education link. These qualifications anxietywill let you refresh your knowledge on feeding and overall care and stable management of your horse. When you do come to buy a horse, spend plenty of time finding the most suitable horse for you and your lifestyle.
