My Welsh Section D has started rubbing his mane badly. Are there any products that would help take away whatever the itch could be? He doesn't have sweet itch at all. Any ideas welcome.

I can seriously recommend Mukout solid shampoo. It contains Indian neem oil which is a natural pesticide and used to keep flying insects away. Neem also has natural anti-bacterial and anti-septic benefits. Unlike commercial shampoos it contains no SLS or Parabens which can irritate and dry the skin, often making skin conditions worse. The website is www.mukout.com

I use this for my horse to keep his mane tail and feathers long and healthy.. Switch(best for summer) pig oil( if it is midgy related -but careful not to cake them in it) Camrosa ( Good to soften the skin and help with hair regowth and pretty much kills ALL itching great value for money:) Avon stuff is also great but you have to be careful incase they get any reactions

Another thought - have you actually seen him rubbing? As well as rug-rub maybe he's got a grooming partner who is muching the mane away?

Could be lice or mites. Could be an alergic reaction so something - anything new in his feed or diet, or has he been moved to a new field where he could have eaten something? Maybe he's just itchy as he's growing his coat out? Is he rugged? Maybe it's his rug that is rubbing his mane?
