Hi there, I dont think that its ever too late to teach a horse manners, and good on you for recognising the problem and wanting to resolve it! I think that you just have to percervere, and have confidence in yourself. Always be confident around your horse and show them who is boss! This is taken me sometime to master, I had serious confident issues when I first got my horse and it didnt take her long to work out that she could take control! However over time I have managed to turn this around, and so can you! I also agree horsey Helen, there is nothing wrong with giving new methods ago if all else fails. I have read about join up, but never given it a go so I cant comment too much, but it may be worth looking in to. Good luck, you will get there in the end Im sure! x

I have had the very same thing with my x cob he came to me 6 yrs ago and he was a night-mare ....learn join up and there are vid's on natual horsemanship all these helped me ...i lead him without a rope now and he never leaves my side unles i tell him  to ....he stands without being tided up and when i take his tack off he will  stand and wait for me to tell him what to do next ...it only took me 6 wks working with him every day ...not only that  it helped me in my ridden work with him and boxing .....he's worth his weight in gold and i know the old owner wouldn't believe he was the same horse. good luck helen x
