Another idea is to have a really good trawl through everything you don't use, and put in on ebay. Or you could have a day at your yard when everyone digs out things they no longer use, and they leave them for other liveries to look at and take away.
If you're cash-poor but have time on your hands, why not try to whittle down your livery bill by diong some extra mucking out or stable chores out for the yard owner? There's also the option of looking into a sharer for your horse - this can really help reduce bills and free up your time.
I've never done it myself but people I know have gone to horse sales and acutions and bought job-lots of tack. These have thrown up the odd nice piece of gear, and by the time the tack is cleaned up and then sold on individually, a profit can be made.
If your horse is kept nearby you could also save on diesel by digging out your bike and cycling to your yard. Gets you fit too!
