Hi, i have a welsh pony who is in his mid thirties, i feed him a veteran mix which contains eveything he needs, all the vits and minerals and digestion aid, his teeth are checked yearly and he has abit of a wavy mouth.  he wont be able to cope with hay this winter, so i will feed him a mixure of HI fi senior, alfa beet , some alfa oil. and some of his veteran mix. i am debating whether to stable him or not as he has always lived out, and is rugged to how cold it is. i think it would be better to let him to continue to live out and have his freedom to walk around and keep active. what do you think.?

My frirend is the same as you and she feed her horse dengie hi fi senior and senior conditioning mix. Hope this has helped xx

Allen and page calm and condition is good. However, I'd personally feed sugar beet nuts (24hr ones) but with plenty of water, so its more watery than usual as these keep them warm and weight on. I'd also add conditioning nuts (whatever brand you prefere) in a while before you feed so they are soggy with the feed. If you can, i'd add a vit and min supplment as he wont be getting carrots and apples like he used to.
