Alpha beet is AMAZING for piling the pounds on without the fizz. At the moment my 13 month old is on mollichaff extra and badminton stud mix and she's holding on to her weight excellently. So maybe try a stud mix of some sort?

I have just taken on an ex-racehorse 17.2h Chesnut Mare aged 20 she was from a rescue centre, problem was she was in a very bad condition body condition 2. To get weight on her which I achieved in 8 weeks was getting everything done teeth, worming, farrier, and fed her ad lib steamed hay with Red Cell added (Iron Tonic) Ordinary non heating horse nuts and hi-fi and Ready Mash Extra from the soft and soak range a Soya mash no sugar beet. All clear last tuesday 31st August 2010 by Vet when giving a flu booster. The trick is condition without fizz with a TB my experience was with cobs for 21 years and had to watch sugar, apt to treat all horses as Laminitic as even Cushings can cause this problem as my cob kept him going for 21 years till he was 30.

Top Spec conditioning flakes and Dodson and Horrell Build and Glo......along with Alpha A and some sugar beet!!!    That will put weight on!!
