I am not qualified to say which is best from a nutrional point of view but I can tell you that I started using it in February this year when my winter hay stock ran out and I have moved over to it full time for this winter. I have found an excellent product in E H Haylage - there high fibre blend - which suits both my 16.2hh ID x TB and my 13.3hh welsh cob. Both adore it and thrive on it. Even with the best quality soaked hay my mare developed a slightly snotty nose - this just doesn't happen with the haylage. They are both stabled at night and at grass during the day. I am finding it is costing me about £1 per week more expensive but this is more than made up by the convenience of replacing 300 bales of hay with just 50 bales of haylage. Ultimately, my girls are happy and healthy so I will be sticking with the haylage.
