I recently rode a friend’s horse and fell off while cantering on a hack. I’m going to see my friend at her yard again and want to ride without getting upset or feeling overwhelmed – how do I get my confidence back?

Homeopath and Practitioner Caroline Putus advises:
There are a few ideas that might help you, including:
● Write a list of five to seven reasons why you want to ride, and phrase the reasons in a positive way. For example, instead of saying “I don’t want to be scared”, you could say “I want to ride because it makes me happy”. Read your list every day and take it to your friend’s yard with you – it will remind you of all the positive feelings of riding.
● Bach Flower Remedies can help. In particular, Star of Bethlehem is wonderful for removing the bad effects of shock and will help you put this experience behind you. There are 38 Bach Flower Remedies and they are very gentle, with no side effects.
