While out hacking my horse had an accident. He was physically OK but my confidence was shattered. I’m at a yard on my own and get really lonely and depressed – sometimes I worry so much I get migraines. I’d love to get out and compete but just don’t know where to start.

Homeopath and Practitioner Caroline Putus advises:
You need to work on changing your focus and motivation. Follow these steps:
● Take some quiet time to yourself, get a pen and paper and write down what you want to achieve with horses. However far-fetched it seems, write it down.
● What would you have to do to achieve these goals? What things would have to change – perhaps a change of yard or getting yourself some transport? Write these things down too.
● Now you can draw up a ‘stepping stone’ plan to get you from where you are now to where you want to be – change is the key here. Your current situation isn’t working, so what are you going to change about it?
● To help you get motivated, write a list of up to seven positive things you’ll gain from putting these changes into effect. Why do you want to do this? What good things will you get?
● Keep your list to hand and look at it every day – it’ll remind you why you’re working to improve your situation.
