I interested in working at the weekends as a groom, rider or helper for other horse owners, as i think it will be a good way to learn. How do I get started and find people to work for?

You should be able to show that you have some experience in the area. If you don't, start off at somewhere like a livery yard or a riding school and then work up to professional riders and competition yards if this is what you want to do... If you have any NVQs/BHS examinations this would be good but not essential. Some placements will pay for you to do these anyway if you are lucky! Competition yards (and all yards really) are such hard work and long hours but I've loved it all.. I've always been lucky and found contacts for professional riders through friends and my ex-bosses. But I have also found the website yardandgroom.com helpful for jobs.
