My horse had viral hepatitis. The blood results showed that his lymphocytes (white blood cells) were down when he was very sick, and now they have risen to higher than normal. The infection also resulted in anaemia. What complementary medicines can I give to my horse?

Vet Stephen Ashdown says:
For liver disease, there are not many options, except for the use of fluids and B vitamins, and the use of herbs. Dandelion and milk thistle are good for liver function and there are several more specific formulas available that work very well, such as Restore.
For a viral problem, you should consider using medicinal plants that help the way the immune system works. The most common of these is echinacea. This is widely available, but try online if you can’t find it. As for anaemia, again there are many formulas available from mail order companies. I use an Ayurvedic formula (a Hindu
herbal treatment).
