I’ve been riding at a riding school for some time, but I’m scared that if I move to a different horse, my nerves will come back – I’ve built a strong bond with just one horse. How can I move on?

Homeopath and Practitioner Caroline Putus advises:
Practise mental rehearsal – imagine something happening exactly as you’d like it to, then practise it in your head. To try it:
● Sit or lie somewhere comfortable where you will have peace for 10 minutes or so.
● Pay attention to the natural rhythm of your breathing, allow your mind to relax.
● Imagine a film of yourself doing whatever it is you’d like to do. You can edit out anything that isn’t exactly as you want it to be.
● When you’re happy with your film, step into it and act it out in your head, making sure you’re behaving, thinking and feeling exactly how you
want to.
● When you’re happy, choose a trigger that will set off this new behaviour. It could be something you see, hear, do, say to yourself, or a combination.
● Run through your trigger and your new behaviour three times, to make sure you enjoy the experience.
