The Toggi Boyd socks come in new colours for this autumn/winter season, but I wore last year’s equivalent through the winter and wet summer months – and loved them. The foot part was thick and warm but soft on the skin, and the length up to the knee was just right for under half-chaps.
With other socks, especially short ones, I sometimes found I would be rubbed by the seams of my jodhpurs. With these socks that was never a problem as their thickness offered protection. The socks are made of a cotton/elastane mix and washed extremely well, coming up as good as new every time, where other socks began to lose some of their softness.
If my Toggi socks were clean, they would always be the ones I would reach for first. They kept my feet warm both in wellies and my jodhpur boots and, remarkably, seemed to fit just as happily into both. A year on, I am still wearing these socks and I have to say the colours and softness haven’t faded, and they remain the first pair I would reach for. I even wear them round the house when it’s chilly.
The designs are pretty cool, too – who wants to wear boring black or brown!
