“The leather is very soft and supple, the sizing true, the fit perfect around the foot and calf and very kind to the ankle. The footbed is soft and the overall comfort fantastic. Details are finished to a high standard and there’s a stretch leather back panel which allows natural movement of your leg.”

Performance 9/10
“The zips are easy to pull up and down, they’re easy to put on and take off, and I liked the inner flap, which stops your jods getting caught in the zip. I felt my foot had a firm grip in the stirrup even when there was mud on the bottom of the soles. The boots needed no breaking in. I found there was some loss of dye in the patches where the boots had got covered in mud, but they came up nicely by using the Ariat boot cleaning kit. I found it a little awkward to get rid of mud stuck under the laces. At the end of the test, they look broken in and no longer new, but polish up well. I wore these boots out competing in cold weather and found them to be nice and warm.”

“These boots are quite striking, with leather on the outside and suede inside the calf. They have a thick inner lining in a bright check design, which folds to allow easy foot access and folds tidily when the boot’s zipped up. The material near the zip is slightly elastic, which makes them easy to do up and the popper fastening at the top of the boot is elasticated too. The foot is a snug fit and the elasticated laces over the front of the boot allow easy access.”

“They’re easy to put on, walk in and are generally comfortable, my foot felt secure and well-balanced. The lining was sometimes a little bulky around the ankle and calf and made me feel a lack of closeness with the horse’s sides.
“When I rode, my foot fitted well in the stirrup and I had good grip. The suede material inside the calf gives reasonable grip too. The boots broke in quite quickly but I felt they remained a little bulky especially around the ankle, and they tended to ‘ride down’ a little. They were good to clean – the suede wiped down and I cleaned the rest of the boot as with a normal leather pair.”

    My hubby kindly decided that my old boots were looking tatty and I needed a new pair, Being a woman I never say no to a shopping trip but I was a bit reluctant to buy some new boots as I had my old ones for 15yrs! As soon as I put my foot in these boots in the shop I knew I was going to buy them, as others have said they are like slippers! I have worn them all winter, they polish up well and are smart for competitions, i find I have a good contact with the horse and the two spur rests are ideal. I cannot praise the boots enough!

    Was bought these a couple of months ago and i'd never buy any other boot. They fit every purpose, where i can compete in them, ride at home and go to the field, and they're unbelievably comfortable in every situation. I'd definetely recommend them to anyone, for what you get from them, they're a bargain.

    As others have said, you can comfortably wear these straight away and I much prefer riding in them to my more traditional long leather boots with hard outer. They are so cosy for winter and do keep your toes dry.

    These boots are by far the best I have ever used. You can wear them all day long and you never get blisters, something which I have constantly had with long boots. They are even more comfortable than boots and chaps! The quality is second to non, the leather is excellent. The liner is warm and cosy and they are smart enough to compete and hunt in, these are a must for any horsewomans wardrobe!! I am so in love with mine I have three pairs (although my first pair died in my arms the other day!! sob sob!) i love them and would never be without them, I have been riding for 35 years and have often ridden 6 horses in a day in them. Just fabulous!!

    These boots are great and so comfy. I wore them to a showing show last week and I was on my feet all day with no problems. These boots are just like wearing a pair of slippers. They look very smart and are well worth the money.

    In over 30 years of riding these are the best boots I have ever owned! I have used them every day for the last year, sometimes riding up to six horses a day. They are starting to look a little worn but have been out hunting and were out yesteday doing a dressage test so they arent that bad. They wore in instantly, fitted beautifully even though I have chicken legs. They are comfortable to be worn all day long, morning to night. They are even better than my old Ariat chaps and boots which I ditched in favour of these. I only wish they did them in mens so my husband could also benfit! Fabulous!! They would be amazing in brown too!!

As shown above, these did really well in the recent test, and rightly so as there's almost zero breaking in. I think there's also a version without the extra insulation.
