Lincoln Classic neatsfoot oil

Features: Lincoln Classic neatsfoot oil has been specially formulated so that it doesn’t start to become solid in cold weather, and is based on an old-fashioned formulation. Neatsfoot oil is a good addition to any tack box as it helps to stop your lather from drying out.

Drying out is something to really watch out for, as dry leather will become brittle, which makes it prone to cracking – it goes without saying that cracked leather tack on a rein or stirrup leather, for example, could cause a serious accident. Neatsfoot oil can also help to waterproof your tack, which stops it becoming waterlogged.

Rob Welch, director at Battles, has been involved with the formulation of the Classic Collection.

Rob says: “This is an exclusive preparation made in a traditional way – literally generations of horse owners have used neatsfoot oil to keep their leather supple and resistant to moisture. Classic Collection neatsfoot oil comes in a 500g tin, but if you like the product enough to buy more, it’s also available in one and four-litre containers."

Everyone should have some neatsfoot oil! Keeps leather tack supple and helps waterproof it. Had mine for years - lasts for ever. I use mine once a week. Don't have to use much of it. Really helped to preserve my tack.

This is a true tack room must have! It is great for protecting and suppling new leather, and for maintaining and restoring old leather. I use this on all of my leather tack (including riding boots), once a month, in addition to my weekly cleaning and it really does preserve the quality of the leather
