Tester: Sue Scott and her nine-year-old, 16.1hh gelding who’s kept in over winter and in at night in summer.
What’s great?
Sue says, “The bales were easy to carry in a wheelbarrow. Five bales were used to cover two thirds of a 14ft x 10ft stable and it made a lovely soft bed. The bed was quick to muck out each day and regularly skipped out. In the morning wet patches were visible but I found the waste was reduced. I used two to three bales a week when my horse was in all the time.”
What’s not so great?
Sue says, “Droppings weren’t easily seen and when my horse was in 24/7 they disintegrated into the bed, so I had to use rubber gloves to remove them. Another horse who used the box for a short time was seen to eat the bedding, though my horse didn’t.”
